My First Dealings with Druids

We have just gotten back from a wary confrontation with Druids, both from this world and the next. Aye, to say I was not frightened would be untrue. The things my eyes glanced upon in that decrepit dungeon were of the most horrid sort. Dead men in cloaks, underworld rites, incantations, but the feelings were the worst, dread at every corner, especially in one room, sickness overtook me, and visions plagued me. I fear they will plague me for a while yet, until I feel I can rest in a bed not made of hard earth and stone, as if I needed more things to plague my sleep. My body feels the weight of my travels already, and to think I was a Knight in the highest regard in Averon, now to feel so useless makes even my stout heart cringe. At the least there have been no flames to deal with. Torchlight I have grown accustomed to, but fire is all to common in these heathen lands, or so I've heard. Small towns fighting each other, why leave a land in strife against itself for another?

When leaving at the behest of my Lord of Dovetail I was to protect innocents on the way across the water, but now I am with a band of travelers, stout adventurers to be sure, but no innocents. Hopefully we can find a way to help the people of this land, they certainly cannot protect themselves, but of what lies ahead of us I don't know. One Dog-Man has fallen beneath our blades, but I sense that Grithnar was the least of threats from that soiled temple. I have seen travelers that produce magics for children, but none the likes of anything I've seen here so far.

Hopefully the path before me will become sure, and my arm will again protect those in need. I want no part in the fightings of townsfolk against townsfolk, no one is innocent in these dealings. These frightened people attack from fear only to grow fear in the hearts of others. Aye, but it is time for my ramblings to end and my dreams to begin, perhaps they will offer respite from this world, as long as the flames don't come, but they always do.
